Mass Shooting Capital: It’s a way of life here.
When I was growing up in America, I would watch the evening news and see reports of routine terror attacks in the Middle East.
One day, I remember once sitting in the living room as the news played on the TV and telling my parents, it must be terrible to live in a place where every day you leave your home and don’t know if you will be the victim of a random unprovoked attack.
My dad replied, well Jaba (his nickname for me) the people there get used to it.
It’s a way of life there.
Today, it’s been 10 days, a week and change, & 17 mass shootings in America, including last night at a Walmart in Chesapeake, VA, over the weekend at a Colorado Springs nightclub, on a sports charter bus in UVA, & several places.
It’s barely a news story anymore.
People don’t even blink an eye anymore.
The #BostonStrong, #OrlandoStrong, #VATech strong types of hashtags barely trend on social media anymore.
We have gotten used to it.
It’s a way of life here.
My thoughts and prayers go out to the recent victims.
That’s all we got here.
